Chile Social Outreach

To live the gospel of Christ reaching outside our parish to our
 brothers & sisters in Chile.

  • The congregation is provided with a list of items needed by the people of Sr. Mimi’s ministry in Chile.
  • Items can be dropped at church or in parish office.
  • Volunteers needed to assist with the boxing of items for shipment.

 Haiti Sister Parish Ministry

Our Mission is to live the gospel of Christ reaching outside our parish to our brothers & sisters in Christ in Haiti.

In 1986, Theresa Patterson came to St. Joseph Parish and showed slides one Sunday afternoon about Haiti. The show moved many parishoners and Fr. Clarence Howard agreed to “twin” with St. Francis Xavier Parish in Acul Samdi, Haiti. St. Joseph’s School began their first Advent fundraiser for Haiti, “Pennies for Heaven,” that year. Students from pre-school to the eighth grade collect money all during Advent for Haiti every year since 1986!Our Parish Twinning with Haiti has grown since 1986. Dozens of parishoners have journeyed to Haiti to bear witness to, and experience, the reality of Haiti. Our visits express our solidarity with our Haitian brothers and sisters. We pray for each other every day, and do what we can to be of service to each other. Over the years, we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for our parish in the Northeastern mountains of Haiti. We completely fund the running of a grade school there. After the Great Earthquake of 2010, we adopted a second parish, St. Jude,  in the heart of Port Au Prince. Our projects at St. Jude have been diverse: we’ve built a recycling center; funded a woman’s cooperative; set up a scholarship fund for high school students; began to develop roof top gardens; and have begun an adult literacy program.

Rosary Makers:

Rosary Makers strive to bring people closer to Jesus by meditating on the mysteries of his life and obtaining peace and merciful blessings through praying the Rosary. Our mission is to provide rosaries to our parish, individuals and our brothers and sisters in Chile’ and Haiti. Rosary Makers meet first Wednesday of the month in the Holy Family Room at the Flaget Hall (Parish Office)
